Claire Catherine Danes is an American actress born on April 12, 1979, in Manhattan, New York. She attended the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute and Yale University.
Danes won two Primetime Emmy Awards for her portrayal of CIA officer Carrie Mathison in Homeland (2011-2020), a role that earned her universal acclaim for its raw, unflinching depiction of bipolar disorder and intelligence work. She previously gained fame for My So-Called Life (1994-1995), Romeo + Juliet (1996), and Temple Grandin (2010), for which she also won an Emmy.
