Julie Marie Benz is an American actress born on May 1, 1972, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. A former competitive figure skater, she transitioned to acting and studied at St. Cloud State University and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts.
Benz gained fame as Darla in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and its spin-off Angel before landing the role of Rita Bennett in Dexter (2006-2010). Her character's death in the Season 4 finale is considered one of the most shocking moments in television history. She has also appeared in Defiance, Hawaii Five-0, and the Rambo franchise.
