Michael Carlyle Hall is an American actor born on February 1, 1971, in Raleigh, North Carolina. He studied at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts and began his career in theater, originating roles in Broadway productions including Chicago and Cabaret.
Hall is best known for his role as Dexter Morgan in the Showtime series Dexter (2006-2013, 2021-2022), for which he won a Golden Globe Award and received multiple Emmy nominations. Prior to Dexter, he starred as David Fisher in the HBO series Six Feet Under (2001-2005). Hall's ability to portray complex, morally ambiguous characters has made him one of the most respected actors of the prestige television era.
