Woodrow Tracy Harrelson is an American actor born on July 23, 1961, in Midland, Texas. He attended Hanover College in Indiana and broke out as bartender Woody Boyd on Cheers (1985-1993).

Harrelson has been nominated for three Academy Awards and has built a career spanning comedy and drama, from Natural Born Killers (1994) to The Messenger (2009) to the Hunger Games franchise. His portrayal of Marty Hart in True Detective Season 1 (2014) alongside McConaughey is considered one of the great TV partnerships, earning him an Emmy nomination.
