Chapter 1: The Mandalorian
Greef Karga gives Din Djarin the bounty for the asset (Grogu), establishing their working relationship.
Greef Karga begins as the head of the Bounty Hunters' Guild on Nevarro — a pragmatic operator who distributes bounties, takes his commission, and asks no questions about the morality of the work. He is the man who gives Din Djarin the fateful assignment to retrieve Grogu, setting the entire series in motion. When Din goes rogue, Greef's first instinct is purely transactional: bringing the Mandalorian in means restoring order to his operation.
What follows is one of the show's most satisfying character transformations. Greef's brush with death — healed by Grogu's Force powers in the Season 1 finale — catalyzes a genuine change of heart. He switches sides, helping Din defeat the Imperial client, and in doing so discovers something he had lost: a sense of purpose beyond profit.
By Season 2, Greef has reinvented himself as the magistrate of Nevarro, transforming the lawless planet into a functioning community. Carl Weathers brings warmth, charisma, and a natural authority to the role, making Greef's evolution from morally ambiguous guild leader to civic-minded leader feel completely earned. His scenes with Grogu — particularly his genuine delight in the child's antics — provide some of the show's most charming moments.
Season 3 sees Greef fully committed to Nevarro's transformation, navigating threats from pirates and Imperial remnants alike. His willingness to stand and fight for his community, rather than cut a deal, marks the completion of an arc from opportunist to leader. Carl Weathers also directed a Season 3 episode, contributing to the series both in front of and behind the camera.

Greef attempts to betray Din but has a change of heart after Grogu heals his fatal wound with the Force.
Greef, now magistrate of Nevarro, enlists Din's help to destroy a remaining Imperial base on the planet.
Greef's Nevarro is attacked by pirate king Gorian Shard, and the Mandalorians come to defend the city.

Carl Weathers played Greef Karga in The Mandalorian. Weathers, legendary for his role as Apollo Creed in the Rocky franchise, brought gravitas and warmth to the character. Weathers also directed the Season 3 episode "Chapter 21: The Pirate." Sadly, Carl Weathers passed away in February 2024 at the age of 76.
Greef Karga begins as a morally ambiguous figure — the head of the Bounty Hunters' Guild who works with Imperial clients. After Grogu heals his mortal wound, Greef undergoes a genuine transformation and becomes one of Din Djarin's most loyal allies, eventually becoming the magistrate of Nevarro.
In Chapter 7 ("The Reckoning"), Greef Karga is wounded by a winged creature during an ambush. Grogu instinctively uses the Force to heal Greef's wound while he sleeps, marking one of the first times the Child's healing abilities are demonstrated.
Yes, Greef Karga appears in all three seasons of The Mandalorian, evolving from a guild leader in Season 1 to the magistrate of Nevarro in Seasons 2 and 3. His role expands significantly across the series.
