Sergeant James Doakes

Sergeant James Doakes is a Miami Metro Homicide detective and the only person in Dexter's professional life who instinctively senses that something is deeply wrong with him. A decorated former Special Forces operative who served in covert operations, Doakes carries his own psychological scars from his violent past.
