The Name of the Game
Annie joins The Seven and is sexually assaulted by The Deep on her first day.
Annie January, known publicly as Starlight, joins The Seven as its newest member — a small-town Christian hero who believes she can make a real difference. Her idealism is shattered almost immediately when she is sexually assaulted by The Deep and discovers that Vought's heroes are corrupt, violent, and controlled by corporate interests rather than any desire to help people.
Starlight's arc traces her transformation from naive believer to radical activist. Rather than leaving The Seven, she stays to fight from within, becoming a double agent who feeds information to The Boys while maintaining her public persona. Her relationship with Hughie Campbell provides emotional grounding, though it creates constant tension as she navigates dual loyalties.
As the show progresses, Starlight becomes increasingly powerful — both literally, as she learns to channel greater amounts of energy, and figuratively, as she uses her platform to expose Vought's crimes. She eventually goes public with the truth about The Seven, becoming a symbol of resistance against corporate superhero culture and Homelander's authoritarian turn.
