About Shogun

Shogun is set in 1600s Japan during a period of political upheaval as five regents vie for control of the country following the death of the Taiko. When English sailor John Blackthorne is shipwrecked on the shores of Japan, he becomes entangled in the schemes of Lord Yoshii Toranaga, a cunning political leader fighting for his survival against a coalition of rival lords. As Blackthorne navigates an alien culture with the aid of his translator Lady Mariko, the series weaves a tapestry of war, political intrigue, forbidden romance, and clashing civilizations. Based on James Clavell's bestselling 1975 novel, Shogun is a sweeping epic that immerses viewers in feudal Japan with stunning authenticity and emotional depth.
