Character Arc
Anis is the household boarder, an outsider who rents a room in Dadajan's home and quickly becomes the comic heart of Aaj Robibar. Unbothered by the family's many rules, he drifts through the house with an easy charm, a quick tongue, and a knack for puncturing everyone's self-importance. Where the family members are weighed down by their private obsessions, Anis is light on his feet - the cheerful agent of chaos who keeps the comedy moving.
Across the serial Anis becomes a confidant to nearly everyone under the roof, trading banter with the granddaughters, humoring the eccentric sons, and gently testing Dadajan's patience. Humayun Ahmed uses him as the audience's surrogate: a relatively ordinary young man reacting to an extraordinary household, his raised eyebrow doing as much comic work as any punchline. His warmth keeps the satire affectionate rather than cruel.
Zahid Hasan's performance turned Anis into one of the most fondly remembered characters of 1990s Bangladeshi television. The role helped cement Hasan's reputation for effortless comic timing, and many of Anis's exchanges survive as quoted lines among fans who grew up with the show.
