Character Arc
Finn Ames is a first-year student at Easton Magic Academy and one of Mash's closest and most steadfast friends. He is a timid, anxious young man who is constantly overwhelmed by the pressures of the academy and the dangers that seem to follow Mash everywhere. Despite his nervous disposition, Finn is fundamentally good-hearted and quickly attaches himself to Mash after the two are sorted together as roommates and classmates.
Finn often serves as the audience's point of view, reacting with panic and disbelief to the absurd feats of strength that Mash performs as though they were ordinary. He is one of the first people to learn that Mash cannot use magic, and rather than expose him, he becomes a fierce protector of the secret. His loyalty repeatedly pushes him to overcome his fears and stand alongside his friends even when he is terrified.
As the series advances, Finn gradually grows more confident, drawing courage from the bonds he forms within Mash's circle. He remains the most easily frightened member of the group, but his willingness to face danger for his friends shows real growth. His arc underscores the idea that bravery is not the absence of fear but the choice to act despite it, making him a relatable and endearing part of the cast.
