Character Arc

Freddy Horniman is Eddie's older brother and the chaotic engine of much of The Gentlemen's trouble — a feckless, debt-ridden wastrel whose recklessness and wounded pride at being passed over for the dukedom keep dragging the family into danger. Volatile, hilarious, and pathetically needy, Freddy is the loose cannon whose messes Eddie must constantly clean up.

His arc is a darkly comic portrait of resentment and self-destruction. As Freddy's gambling debts and humiliations spiral, his desperation produces some of the show's biggest set pieces and its most cringe-inducing comedy, while hinting at the real hurt beneath the buffoonery. He is both the family's greatest liability and, oddly, its heart.

Daniel Ings steals scenes as the unpredictable, deeply funny, deeply broken elder brother.
