Character Arc

Jinta Yadomi, often called Jintan by his friends, was the natural leader of the childhood group known as the Super Peace Busters. After the loss of Menma and other hardships at home, he withdrew from school and from the people around him, spending his days alone and avoiding his former friends.

When Menma reappears to him asking that he help grant a wish she cannot remember, Jinta is forced out of his isolation. Reconnecting with the old group is awkward and painful, and he struggles with whether the others believe him and with his own buried feelings about the past.

Over the course of the series Jinta gradually steps back into the role of someone who can hold the group together. His arc is about confronting guilt, accepting help from his friends, and finding the courage to face a goodbye he was never ready to give.
