Jordan Catalano is the impossibly handsome older boy who exists, at first, mostly as the object of Angela's fixation. He drifts through the halls of Liberty High with a guitar, a band, and a reading disability he hides behind cool detachment, saying little and meaning even less than Angela hopes.
As the season unfolds, the fantasy slowly meets the reality. Jordan is sweet in flashes but careless and emotionally shut down, hurting Angela through his fear of being seen with her and his fumbling inability to express anything real.
His arc bends toward a tentative honesty, especially once Brian Krakow secretly ghostwrites a letter that puts Jordan's unspoken feelings into words. By the finale he is reaching, clumsily, for connection, a boy just beginning to understand that being wanted is not the same as knowing how to love.
