Character Arc
Kaiba is the gentle, wide-eyed protagonist of the series, a young man who awakens with no memories, a curious hole in his chest, and a locket showing a woman whose face he does not recognize. He takes the name Kaiba and sets out across a strange world to learn who he was and to find the person in the picture. His innocence and warmth make him a quietly endearing guide through an often bewildering landscape.
Over the course of his journey Kaiba passes through different bodies and situations, encountering people whose memories have been altered or taken. Each encounter returns small pieces of his own history, and the audience comes to understand him alongside the fragments he recovers. His search is driven less by a desire for power than by a simple, tender wish to reconnect with someone he loved.
Kaiba's arc is ultimately about identity and memory: whether a person is defined by their recollections, their body, or their feelings. Houko Kuwashima's soft, youthful vocal performance grounds the character's sweetness and melancholy, anchoring the surreal story in a sincere emotional center.
