Maple is the in-game avatar of Kaede Honjo, a cheerful high-school girl who jumps into the VRMMO New World Online with no gaming experience. Afraid of getting hurt, she dumps every stat point into VIT, the defense stat, and ends up almost unable to move or deal damage normally. What should have been a useless build instead makes her practically invulnerable, and her sunny, fearless curiosity leads her to provoke monsters and situations a cautious player would avoid.
Her arc is a string of happy accidents. By surviving things meant to destroy her, Maple unlocks bizarre and powerful skills, from poison immunity and a devouring counter to a giant turtle mount and a winged Atrocity transformation. She becomes a near-mythic figure among players and a recurring headache for the developers, all without ever losing her gentle, friendly nature.
Across the seasons Maple anchors the Maple Tree guild as its heart and its strongest member. Whether competing in events or exploring new content, she leads with kindness rather than ambition, turning her broken build into a symbol of the show's wholesome charm. Her devotion to her best friend Sally and to her growing roster of monster companions keeps the series grounded in warmth even as her power becomes ever more ridiculous.
