Character Arc
Peter Fernandes is a retired crime journalist whose reporter's eye never fully switched off. When the killing at the railway station draws his attention, he is pulled back toward the world of investigation he had stepped away from, partnering with his old friend Inspector Jende. Peter brings the instincts of a writer to the case, listening for the human story beneath the official facts and asking the questions a police file tends to leave out.
His involvement carries a personal charge. Peter's domestic life and his concern for the people closest to him intersect with the investigation in ways that blur the line between professional curiosity and private stake. As the case touches the city's marginalized communities, his empathy and his prejudices are both put under pressure, and the reporter's detachment he once relied on becomes harder to maintain.
Across the season, Peter's arc traces a man re-examining his own assumptions. Ashutosh Rana plays him as thoughtful and humane but flawed, a former chronicler of crime forced to confront how little he understood about the lives at the edges of the stories he used to tell. His partnership with Jende ultimately becomes a study in two men learning to see differently.
