Character Arc
Nam Haeng-seon is the warm, hard-working heart of the series. Once a celebrated national handball player, she has stepped away from elite sport and now pours her energy into a busy side-dish shop in a neighborhood dominated by cram schools. Down-to-earth and quick-witted, she is defined above all by her loyalty to family, raising and championing her niece while keeping her shop and her tangled household running on sheer determination.
Her path crosses with celebrity instructor Choi Chi-yeol when she learns that her cooking is one of the few foods his anxious stomach can tolerate. What begins as a practical food arrangement slowly becomes something deeper as she sees past his polished public image to the lonely, overworked man underneath. Haeng-seon's plainspoken honesty and steadiness gradually draw Chi-yeol out of his isolation, and her own guarded heart begins to open in return.
Across the season she balances the demands of her business, the academic pressures swirling around her niece, and the slow-building romance, all while a quieter mystery touches the people around her. Her arc is ultimately one of allowing herself happiness after years of putting everyone else first, choosing partnership and trust without losing the fierce independence that makes her who she is.
