Character Arc

Park Hae-young is a sharp, somewhat jaded criminal profiler in the present day whose interest in police work is rooted in a painful childhood experience with an unsolved case. He is intelligent and observant but initially skeptical and detached, more inclined to point out the failures of the system than to invest himself emotionally in the people it has failed.

Everything shifts when he finds an old walkie-talkie that crackles to life and connects him to a detective broadcasting from 1989. As he begins exchanging information across time with Lee Jae-han, Hae-young is drawn into reopening cold cases and confronting how the past shaped his own life, including events tied to his family.

Over the series, Hae-young grows from a guarded outsider into a committed member of the cold-case team. Working with Cha Soo-hyun in the present and Lee Jae-han across the radio, he comes to believe that justice delayed is still worth pursuing, even when altering the past carries unpredictable consequences for the present.
