Character Arc

Rakka is the newcomer through whose eyes the audience first discovers Glie. She is born into the town from a large cocoon with no memories, and like all Haibane she takes her name, which evokes a falling motion, from the dream she had while inside it. Gentle, curious, and a little uncertain at first, she is warmly welcomed into the shared home of Old Home and given her halo and small grey wings.

As Rakka settles into daily life she grows into the rhythms of the community, taking on honest work and forming close, tender bonds with the other Haibane. Her quiet, open-hearted nature draws her especially to Reki, the housemate who looks after her, and their friendship becomes the emotional center of the series.

Over the course of the story Rakka moves from a wide-eyed newcomer toward someone who understands what it means to give and receive kindness. Her search for belonging and meaning leads her to offer compassion to those around her, and in doing so she helps carry the show's gentle themes of grace and connection.
