Character Arc
Kang Dan-i begins the series as a woman whose past success has become a liability. Once a sought-after advertising copywriter with awards and a glamorous reputation, she has spent years as a homemaker and is now divorced, broke, and unable to land even a modest job because employers see her as overqualified and out of date. Her arc opens in quiet desperation as she trims her resume down to a lie just to get hired as a support worker at Gyeoroo Publishing.
Inside the publishing house, Dan-i is forced to start over from the very bottom, doing tasks far beneath her former rank while concealing the talent and experience that would expose her deception. Her natural instincts for storytelling, marketing, and people steadily resurface, and she earns the respect of colleagues who have no idea who she used to be. The tension between her hidden capability and her humble title drives much of the show's warmth and comedy.
Emotionally, Dan-i's journey is about reclaiming her own worth rather than defining herself by a husband, a title, or a past peak. As her bond with Cha Eun-ho deepens from comfortable friendship into something romantic, she must decide whether she is ready to be truly seen, flaws and lies included. By the finale she has rebuilt not only a career but a more honest sense of self.
