Character Arc
Tiwalade, usually called Tiwa, is the heart of the series: a witty, self-aware young woman in Lagos whose mother is convinced that losing weight is the key to her finding a husband. From the pilot onward, Tiwa's diet attempts and the pressure surrounding them become a comic engine, but the writing consistently treats her as more than the punchline, giving her intelligence, humor, and a clear interior life.
Across the seasons Tiwa's story widens beyond body image to take in her career, her friendships, and especially her romantic life. Her relationship with the patient Mohammed forms one of the show's central emotional throughlines, moving through attraction, conflict, separation, and reconciliation. Tiwa repeatedly has to weigh her own desires against her family's expectations and her own insecurities.
By later seasons Tiwa has grown into a more confident figure who pushes back against the pressures that once defined her, even as new complications arrive. Her evolution from a young woman managed by everyone around her into someone making her own choices is the spine that holds the series together through its many subplots and its long-awaited return.
