Character Arc
Tyler is the eldest Locke sibling, a guarded teenager weighed down by guilt and grief in the aftermath of his father Rendell's murder. Outwardly the responsible older brother, he privately blames himself for a fateful conversation that may have set the tragedy in motion, and much of his early arc is about learning to forgive himself while shielding his younger siblings from the danger that has followed the family to Keyhouse.
As the siblings explore the magical keys, Tyler grows from a reluctant participant into a determined protector, taking up the fight against the demonic threat that hunts them. He falls for classmate Jackie and wrestles with how the keys complicate ordinary teenage life, including the painful reality that adults forget magic and that those who turn eighteen begin to lose their memories of it too.
By the final season Tyler's story becomes a meditation on loss and moving on. Having endured heartbreak and trauma, he chooses to step away from the world of the keys in search of a normal life, only to be drawn back when his family is threatened again, ultimately embracing his role as a Locke and the responsibilities that come with the legacy.
