Character Arc
Woo Young-woo is the heart of the series: a rookie attorney at the Hanbada law firm who graduated at the very top of her class and possesses an extraordinary memory and a remarkably original legal mind. She is autistic, and the show centers her brilliance, warmth, and individuality, presenting her perspective not as a limitation but as a distinctive way of seeing connections and details that others miss. She loves whales and dolphins, often using them as a lens for thinking through a problem.
Across her first year in practice, Young-woo grows from a careful newcomer into a confident advocate who trusts her own judgment. She navigates the everyday textures of office life, learns to read situations and people in her own way, and forms genuine friendships, most notably with her loyal best friend Dong Geu-ra-mi. Her tender relationship with paralegal Lee Jun-ho gives her a partner who respects her on her own terms, and the two of them work through the ordinary uncertainties of a first love with honesty and care.
Her arc also explores her relationship with her devoted single father, who raised her, and the gradual unfolding of her family history. Throughout, Young-woo wins cases not by changing who she is but by bringing her full self to the work, earning the respect of colleagues and clients and quietly reshaping the expectations of those around her.
