About Alice in Borderland

Ryohei Arisu is a directionless gamer drifting through Tokyo, more comfortable behind a controller than facing the future his father and brother expect of him. One ordinary afternoon with his two best friends, the city around him empties in an instant, the crowds and traffic of Shibuya replaced by an eerie, sun-bleached silence. There are no people, no answers, and no way out.

To survive in this deserted parallel Tokyo, the trio must clear deadly games whose difficulty and category are dialed in by playing cards. Each cleared game buys a few more days of life on a visa stamped into the sky; let it expire and a laser from above ends you. As the rules sharpen and alliances fracture, Arisu discovers that his instinct for puzzles is the one thing keeping him and the strangers he meets alive.

The series builds toward a desperate confrontation with the Face Cards who rule the Borderland, forcing its survivors to gamble everything on the question of why they were brought here at all. Adapted from Haro Aso's manga by director Shinsuke Sato, the show pairs brutal set pieces with surprisingly tender character work. It stars Kento Yamazaki as Arisu and Tao Tsuchiya as the fearless climber Yuzuha Usagi.
