About Battleground (Nigerian TV series)
Battleground is a Nigerian drama series that premiered on Africa Magic Showcase in May 2017 and ran for two seasons through September 2018. Produced by acclaimed Nollywood filmmaker Femi Odugbemi, the show centers on the wealthy and powerful Badmus family, whose love for one another is tested when an unfortunate series of events triggers greed, betrayal and a struggle for power within their ranks. Set against the backdrop of family business and high-society Lagos, it blends boardroom intrigue with domestic melodrama.
The ensemble cast was led by veteran actress Joke Silva as the family matriarch figure Mama Egba, with Shaffy Bello as Adaora Badmus, Yinka Davies as Cissy Jack Badmus and Ini Dima-Okojie as Teni Badmus. Gbenga Titiloye played patriarch Kolade Badmus, while Ozzy Agu, Nonso Bassey, Okey Uzoeshi and Francis Onwuche rounded out a large cast. The Voice Nigeria finalists Chike and Nonso Bassey were among the performers who brought the sprawling family saga to life across its long episode run.
Airing as a high-volume telenovela-style series, Battleground delivered hundreds of episodes that followed shifting alliances, secrets and rivalries among the Badmus clan and those around them. The production was part of Africa Magic's push to invest in original, locally produced premium drama for its pan-African audience, and it stands among the channel's notable scripted family sagas of the late 2010s, featuring a roster of established and rising Nigerian screen talent.
