About Everwood

Everwood opens on a man at the peak of his profession and the bottom of his life. Dr. Andrew Brown is a celebrated Manhattan neurosurgeon whose brilliance in the operating room came at the cost of being present at home. When his wife dies suddenly, the loss cracks open everything he has avoided, and he makes a decision that stuns everyone who knows him.

He uproots his teenage son Ephram and young daughter Delia and moves them to Everwood, a small town tucked high in the Colorado mountains, where he opens a free medical practice and tries to become the father he never managed to be. The town does not welcome him easily, and neither does Ephram, whose grief curdles into a resentment that fuels four seasons of raw, beautifully written conflict and reconciliation.

Across its run the series widens to embrace the whole town, especially the prickly Dr. Harold Abbott and his daughter Amy, weaving romance, rivalry, and quiet moral questions into stories that never flinch from real feeling. The warmth and aching honesty of the show rested on its cast, led by Treat Williams, Gregory Smith, and Emily VanCamp.
