About Juhan Shuttai!
Juhan Shuttai!, released internationally as Sleepeeer Hit!, is a 2016 Japanese workplace drama that aired on TBS from April to June 2016. Adapted from Naoko Matsuda's manga of the same name, the title refers to juhan shuttai, the Japanese publishing term for a reprint, the moment a comic sells well enough to warrant a second printing. That milestone becomes the recurring dream that drives the editors, artists, and sales staff at the fictional weekly comics magazine Shukan Vibes.
The story follows Kokoro Kurosawa, a former judo athlete who had trained for a shot at the Olympics until a knee injury ended her competitive career. Redirecting the same discipline and relentless optimism into a new field, she joins the publishing house Kobunsha and is assigned to the manga editorial department as a rookie editor. With almost no knowledge of the industry but boundless energy, she throws herself into supporting the magazine's cartoonists, learning the trade one deadline at a time.
Across ten episodes the series widens its lens beyond Kurosawa to the people who keep a magazine alive: a weary deputy editor who becomes her mentor, struggling and star artists, assistants, bookstore staff, and sales representatives. Warm and grounded rather than melodramatic, the show treats the business of making comics as honest, collaborative labor, celebrating small victories and the quiet persistence required to turn a single manga into a hit.
