About Kassandra
Kassandra is a Venezuelan telenovela produced by RCTV in 1992, written by the celebrated author Delia Fiallo and built around a beloved melodramatic premise. The title character is a young circus performer who travels with a troupe of artists, never suspecting that she is in fact the long-lost heir to a wealthy family. When fate brings her path close to a powerful clan torn by old secrets, Kassandra's search for her true identity becomes the engine of the story.
At the heart of the drama is the romance between Kassandra and Luis David, a member of the influential family whose mother once committed a terrible act to protect the bloodline. The lovers are repeatedly separated by lies, jealousy, and the machinations of relatives determined to keep the truth hidden. Across the series the circus world of color and spectacle is contrasted with the cold halls of inherited privilege, a tension typical of Fiallo's classic style.
The production became one of the most widely exported telenovelas in television history, dubbed into many languages and broadcast in well over one hundred countries across Latin America, Europe, the Balkans, the Middle East, Asia, and Africa. Its sweeping melodrama and the luminous presence of its leading actress turned Kassandra into a touchstone of the genre and a lasting symbol of Venezuela's golden age of telenovela exports.
