About La Herencia
La Herencia is a 2022 Mexican telenovela produced by Juan Osorio for TelevisaUnivision and broadcast on Las Estrellas. A free adaptation of the Chilean story Hijos del Monte, it unfolds on Santa Catalina, an avocado hacienda in the Mexican countryside where the widowed patriarch Severiano del Monte has raised a close-knit group of sons. His sudden death turns the reading of his will into the event that reshapes every life on the estate, as the family learns that the future of the land, and of their bond, now depends on choices none of them expected to make.
The story sets that family in motion when Sara, a young woman tied to Severiano by a secret from his past, arrives to claim her place in the inheritance. The will asks the heirs to stay together on the hacienda and run it as one family for a set period of time, forcing siblings, newcomers, and longtime household members into the same daily life whether or not they trust one another. Old resentments, buried family history, and competing ideas about what their father truly wanted rise to the surface as the group tries to keep the estate working.
Across its single 80-episode season, La Herencia balances that inheritance dispute with the romances, reconciliations, and shifting loyalties that telenovela audiences expect, including the charged connection between Sara and the eldest del Monte brother, Juan. Anchored by leads Michelle Renaud, Matias Novoa, and Emmanuel Palomares, the series treats the land itself as a symbol of legacy, asking whether a family bound by a will can become a family bound by choice. It is framed throughout as a warm, non-graphic drama about belonging, forgiveness, and what is passed down between generations.
