About Alpha Males
Alpha Males (Machos Alfa) is a Spanish comedy series created by Alberto Caballero with Laura Caballero and Daniel Deorador, released on Netflix beginning in 2022. It follows four fortysomething male friends who suddenly find that the old rules of masculinity no longer apply, and who scramble, often hilariously, to keep up with a changing world. Each man is forced to confront the gap between the confident alpha he imagined himself to be and the more uncertain, well-meaning person underneath.
Pedro is a manager blindsided when his wife outgrows him at work and at home, Luis is a recently separated father trying to reinvent himself on the dating scene, Santiago is a free-spirited bachelor whose easy charm keeps backfiring, and Raul is a sensitive new-age type whose progressive self-image is constantly tested. Across three seasons the friends meet to vent, scheme, and give each other terrible advice, while the sharp, clear-eyed women in their lives quietly run circles around them.
Warm rather than mean-spirited, the show plays its gender-role comedy for laughs without letting its heroes off the hook, treating their fumbles toward self-awareness as the real story. Built from short, fast episodes, Machos Alfa balances broad farce with genuine growth, asking what it actually means to be a good partner, father, and friend once the bravado falls away.
