About Santhwanam
Santhwanam is a long-running Malayalam-language family serial that aired on Asianet from 2020 to 2024. It follows the Krishna Stores household, a close-knit joint family in a small Kerala town, where the eldest son carries the weight of holding everyone together after the loss of the family patriarch. At the emotional center is Balakrishnan Pillai, known as Balan, a dutiful elder brother whose steady devotion to his mother and three younger siblings shapes the rhythm of the entire home.
When Balan marries Sreedevi, called Devi, she steps into the household and quietly becomes its anchor. Devi helps run the family grocery store, looks after her ailing mother-in-law, and treats her brothers-in-law as her own, gradually drawing a sometimes fractious family back into harmony. The series builds its warmth from everyday moments, shared meals, festival gatherings, small sacrifices, and the give-and-take of people learning to live as one.
Across more than a thousand episodes, Santhwanam explores the bonds, duties, and gentle tensions of a large family navigating marriage, business worries, misunderstandings, and reconciliation. An official Malayalam remake of the Tamil serial Pandian Stores, it became one of Asianet's most-watched daytime dramas, prized by viewers for its emphasis on togetherness, responsibility, and the quiet strength of family devotion.
