About Sueños de libertad (Dreams of Freedom)
Sueños de libertad (Dreams of Freedom) is a Spanish daily period drama produced by Diagonal TV and Atresmedia Television for Antena 3 and the streaming service Atresplayer. Set in a Spanish town at the end of the 1950s, it centers on Begona Montes, a strong-willed young woman who flees a toxic marriage and seeks a life of her own. Her path becomes entangled with the powerful de la Reina family, owners of the prestigious cosmetics and perfume company Perfumerias de la Reina, where ambition, secrets, and old loyalties shape every decision.
At the heart of the series is the tense triangle between Begona, her cold and controlling husband Jesus de la Reina, who heads the family business, and his more sensitive brother Andres de la Reina, with whom Begona shares a tender, hard-won connection. Around them turns a large ensemble of workers, family members, and townspeople whose lives intersect inside the factory and the family estate, giving the show the layered, soapy texture of a classic daily melodrama rooted in the social codes of late-1950s Spain.
Premiering in February 2024 as the successor to the long-running Amar es para siempre, Sueños de libertad quickly became one of the most-watched daytime titles in Spain, praised for its lavish 1950s production design, its focus on women fighting for independence, and its blend of romance, family intrigue, and historical drama. Treated in a tasteful, non-graphic style, it has run for hundreds of episodes across multiple seasons and remains a fixture of Antena 3's afternoon schedule.
