Character Arc
Devilal Singh is the senior police officer overseeing the Mandawa station and one of the few figures who genuinely backs Anjali Bhaati's instincts. Steady and principled, he serves as both her superior and, at times, her shield against the prejudice and politics that swirl around the investigation. Where others in the department prefer to dismiss the missing-persons reports, Devilal is willing to let the evidence lead, lending institutional weight to a case that the system would otherwise ignore.
Over the course of the season, Devilal is given a grounded personal life that humanizes the procedural, including the ordinary pressures of family and community in a small town. His mentorship of Bhaati is built on mutual respect rather than condescension, and his presence underscores one of the show's quieter points: that fair policing depends heavily on individuals willing to act with integrity inside a flawed institution.
Gulshan Devaiah, an actor known for versatile and often unconventional roles in Indian cinema, plays Devilal with understated warmth and authority. The character functions as the moral anchor of the investigation, balancing Bhaati's relentless energy with patience and experience.
