Character Arc
Fushi is the immortal being at the heart of the series, arriving in the world as a featureless orb with no understanding of life. It first mirrors a stone, then moss, then a wolf, before taking the shape of a boy and beginning a long journey of discovery. In these early stages Fushi acts on instinct alone, unable to speak or grasp the meaning of the people and places it encounters.
As Fushi travels, it absorbs the forms and memories of those it meets, and with each new bond it grows more aware and more human. Companions teach Fushi to talk, to share meals, to laugh, and to feel the ache of separation. What begins as simple imitation becomes genuine understanding, and Fushi gradually develops a will of its own and a desire to protect the people who matter to it.
By the second season Fushi has chosen a purpose, standing as a guardian against a recurring force that threatens the world it has learned to cherish. The arc traces a remarkable transformation from a blank vessel into a thoughtful, determined protector who carries every lesson and memory forward. Fushi's growth is the emotional spine of the entire series.
