Character Arc

Rudo is a hot-tempered but warm-hearted young man raised in the slums of the floating town, where he and his guardian Regto live by repairing and cherishing the objects the upper districts throw away. That love of discarded things sets him apart in a society that equates worth with cleanliness, and it becomes the emotional core of his story when he is framed for a violent crime and cast down into the abyss.

Surviving the fall, Rudo is thrust into a brutal world of Trash Beasts and is taken in by the Cleaner Enjin, who recognizes his rare potential. Rudo's deep attachment to a particular treasured object lets him wield a Vital Instrument of his own, and much of his early arc is about learning to control that raw, instinctive power rather than being ruled by his anger and grief.

Driven by the need to clear his name and confront the masked figure responsible for his exile, Rudo grows from an impulsive outsider into a determined fighter who questions the cruelty of the system that discarded him. His journey frames the series' themes of prejudice and class, as he insists that neither people nor things are truly worthless just because the world above has thrown them away.
