Character Arc
Daigo Agawa is the resident police officer who moves to the isolated village of Kuge with his wife and daughter, hoping for a calmer life after a difficult posting. Conscientious and quietly haunted by his own past, he approaches the assignment as a chance to rebuild, only to find that the village's surface calm hides a network of secrets the locals refuse to discuss.
As suspicious deaths and old disappearances surface, Daigo's sense of duty hardens into obsession. He pushes against the silence of the community and the influence of the Goto clan, gradually isolating himself even as he tries to shield his family. His investigation tests how far an honest officer will go when the institutions and neighbors around him seem to be in on the very thing he is trying to expose.
Over the two seasons Daigo evolves from cautious newcomer to a man willing to risk everything for the truth. The story keeps him morally grounded, framing his courage as protective rather than heroic spectacle, and his arc centers on the cost of standing alone against an entire town that has decided what it is willing to hide.
