Character Arc
Izumi Miyamura begins the series as a quiet, easily overlooked classmate who hides behind long bangs and glasses, giving off a gloomy and withdrawn impression. In secret, however, he sports multiple piercings and extensive tattoos, and away from school he is warm, gentle, and surprisingly approachable. This concealed self reflects years of loneliness and a belief that he does not fit in, making his guarded exterior a kind of armor.
His chance encounter with Hori, who sees past his appearance, becomes the turning point of his life. In her company he feels accepted for who he truly is, and their growing closeness gradually pulls him out of isolation. He starts to connect with classmates, form genuine friendships, and even change his look at school, signaling a slow but meaningful shift in his self-image.
Across the season Miyamura transforms from a solitary figure into a more confident young man who can express affection and stand beside Hori as an equal. He confronts his old insecurities, embraces being noticed, and finds belonging in a circle of friends he never expected. His arc is a quietly moving story of self-acceptance, anchored by a love that lets him finally be himself.
