Character Arc
Kyoko Hori is the bright, capable heroine of Horimiya, admired by classmates for her good looks and easygoing charm. Beneath that polished image, she shoulders most of the cooking, cleaning, and childcare at home because her parents are often away for work. This split between her sparkling school persona and her plain, hardworking home life defines her early character and sets up her bond with Miyamura.
After she discovers Miyamura's hidden softer side, Hori finds someone she can finally relax around without keeping up appearances. Their friendship gives her a rare space to be honest, and she gradually lets her guard down in ways she never could with anyone else. As feelings develop, she becomes more open about her wants and insecurities, including a possessive, sometimes blunt streak that the show treats with affection and humor.
Over the season Hori grows from a girl quietly managing everything alone into a young woman learning to lean on others and accept love. Her relationship with Miyamura deepens into a steady, mutually supportive partnership, and she helps him gain confidence even as he draws out her gentler vulnerabilities. By the finale she stands as a fan-favorite lead whose strength lies in both her competence and her willingness to be seen.
