Character Arc
Kim Beom-jun is often described as the Witness, an ordinary man whose life veers off course after he sees something he was never meant to see. Faced with a strange and unsettling event, he makes a single morally ambiguous choice rather than walk away clean, and that decision quietly binds his fate to people he does not yet know. From that point on, his story becomes a slow-tightening trap built largely from his own compromises.
As the series unfolds, Beom-jun functions as a kind of anchor for the interlocking-fate structure: many of the show's threads pass through or near him, and the audience often re-evaluates earlier scenes once his role becomes clearer. He is neither a straightforward hero nor a villain but a study in how self-preservation and small dishonesties can pull a person deeper into circumstances beyond their control.
Park Hae-soo plays the role with a contained, watchful intensity, letting unease build under a calm surface. Beom-jun's arc is shaped by guilt and consequence, and his connection to a shared hometown and to other characters' pasts becomes central to the puzzle. Specific plot beats and his ultimate fate should be verified against primary sources before publication.
