About Karma
Karma (Korean title Eopbo) is a 2025 Netflix Korean thriller written and directed by Lee Il-hyung and adapted from the Kakao webtoon of the same name. Across six tightly plotted episodes, the series follows a handful of ordinary strangers whose lives are quietly knotted together long before they realize it. A mountain of private debt, a desperate scheme, and a single violent event set off a chain reaction that pulls each of them into circumstances none of them can fully control.
Structurally, the show is built around interlocking fate. Episodes loop back on shared moments and reveal how a choice made by one character reshapes the futures of people who barely know one another. What looks at first like coincidence is gradually exposed as a web of cause and consequence, with each new piece of information forcing viewers to reread everything that came before. The result is a puzzle-box narrative in which the central question is less who did it than how far the fallout will spread.
Thematically, Karma is a study of moral consequence: how small acts of self-interest, denial, and cowardice compound into outcomes no one intended. The ensemble includes a witness drawn into a deal he cannot undo, a physician haunted by old wounds, and a debtor cornered by loan sharks, among others. The series treats its darkest turns in restrained, suggestive terms, keeping the emphasis on dread, guilt, and reckoning rather than spectacle.
