Character Arc

Day was a promising badminton player whose future seemed secure until an eye infection began stealing his vision. When the series opens he has withdrawn into frustration and isolation, rejecting the caregivers and well-wishers whose pity only reminds him of what he has lost. He hires Mhok precisely because Mhok treats him as capable rather than fragile.

Learning that he has roughly 180 days before his remaining sight fades forces Day to decide how he wants to spend that time. With Mhok beside him he slowly trades resentment for openness, rediscovering small joys and allowing himself to depend on and care for another person. The series treats his adjustment to vision loss with patience and dignity, acknowledging grief without reducing him to it.

By the end of the story Day has reclaimed a sense of independence and self-worth that does not hinge on his eyesight. His journey is about grieving one version of his life while building another, and about accepting love without seeing it as charity.
