Character Arc
Do Min-joon arrives on Earth during the Joseon era and, stranded when he misses his chance to leave, spends four centuries quietly observing humanity. He possesses heightened senses, great strength, and the ability to stop time and move at superhuman speed, all of which he conceals behind the persona of an aloof, perpetually single university lecturer. Long ago burned by loss, he has resolved to keep humans at arm's length and simply wait out the years until his planet's alignment allows him to return.
His discipline crumbles when Cheon Song-yi enters his life. Initially treating her as a nuisance, Min-joon is gradually drawn to her warmth and vulnerability, and he repeatedly uses his powers to shield her from danger and scandal. The romance forces him to confront feelings he has suppressed for centuries, and his growing attachment becomes a liability as a ruthless adversary closes in on the people around her.
As his departure deadline nears, Min-joon faces an impossible choice between returning to where he belongs and staying with the woman he has come to love, knowing that remaining on Earth may carry a fatal cost. His arc is the emotional spine of the series, charting a guarded immortal who slowly relearns how to feel, to risk, and to hope.
