Character Arc
Tetsuo Tosu is introduced as a mild, unassuming manga editor in his fifties, a man whose life revolves around his work and his family. He is the kind of father who is easy to underestimate, gentle and routine-bound, until he learns that his daughter Reika is being mistreated by a boyfriend entangled with organized crime. That discovery forces him out of his quiet life and into an impossible situation.
After a confrontation ends in a death he never intended, Tetsuo makes a fateful choice to shield his family rather than surrender to the fallout. Drawing on years of editing mystery and crime stories, he begins thinking like the characters he once shepherded to print, planning, anticipating, and improvising to keep dangerous people and watchful investigators away from the truth. The transformation is gradual and convincing, an ordinary man discovering an unexpected capacity for strategy under pressure.
Across the series, Tetsuo's arc is defined by the tension between his decency and the increasingly difficult things he must do to protect those he loves. He is never a hardened criminal, but a frightened parent improvising at the edge of his limits, and the show uses his guilt, resolve, and quick thinking to ask how far a quiet person will go when his family is at stake.
