Character Arc
Narumi Momose is the energetic, kindhearted heroine of Wotakoi and a self-described fujoshi who lives a double life. In public she is a cheerful, sociable office worker who tries hard to appear normal, but in private she pours her passion into manga, anime, and creating dojinshi. Burned by a past relationship that ended when a boyfriend learned about her hobby, she starts her new job determined to keep her otaku identity a secret.
Her plans are upended when she reunites with Hirotaka Nifuji, the deadpan gamer she has known since childhood. As they begin dating, Narumi grows from someone who hides her true self into a woman who learns to embrace her interests openly with a partner who accepts her completely. Her journey is about overcoming insecurity and discovering that she does not have to choose between love and the things she loves.
Throughout the series Narumi balances comic exuberance with moments of genuine vulnerability. Whether she is dragging Hirotaka to a comic convention, fretting over how to act like a proper girlfriend, or quietly realizing how deeply she cares for him, she anchors the show's warmth. Her bond with Hanako and the rest of the friend group also highlights her loyalty and her growth toward confidence and honesty.
