Vera Stone is the formidable Grand Magus of the Hermetic Order of the Blue Rose, the most powerful magic user at Belgrave University and one of the series' central antagonists. Cold, calculating, and fiercely protective of the Order's secrets, she wields immense authority and is willing to bend almost any rule to preserve her power and the society's legacy. Her command of dark magic makes her a constant threat.
Vera's ambitions repeatedly bring her into conflict with Jack Morton, the Knights of Saint Christopher, and even members of her own society. Her schemes around forbidden spells and the Order's most dangerous texts drive much of the plot, and her ruthlessness is matched by a complicated personal history that hints at deeper motivations. She is as much a survivor as she is a villain.
