Character Arc
Steve Armstrong is the eldest of the three Armstrong brothers and the de facto leader of the Voltes team, piloting Volt Cruiser, the head unit of the combined robot. Hot-headed and fiercely protective of his family, Steve carries the weight of being the firstborn in a household shaped by the absence of their father, who disappeared years before the alien invasion began. His leadership is tested repeatedly as the team faces increasingly dangerous Boazanian Beast Fighters.
Throughout the series Steve grapples with questions about his own heritage and the secrets surrounding his family's connection to the Boazanian world. These revelations force him to reconsider his understanding of who the enemy truly is and what the war is really about. His arc moves from impulsive aggression toward a more measured sense of responsibility as he learns to balance personal vengeance with the broader duty of protecting humanity.
By the later stages of the story, Steve emerges as a steadier commander who unites the pilots through hardship and loss. His growth mirrors the show's central message about family loyalty and resilience, positioning him as the emotional anchor of the team even as the conflict reaches its most destructive heights.
