Character Arc
Yoon Ga-min is the warm-hearted center of Study Group: a vocational high-school student who struggles with academics but possesses a natural, almost effortless gift for fighting. What makes him stand out is not his fists, though, but his wish. While the school around him is carved up by delinquents, all Ga-min really wants is to form a genuine study group and learn the way ordinary students do, surrounded by friends who want the same thing.
Over the season, Ga-min's earnest dream keeps colliding with reality. Again and again he is pulled away from his books to shield classmates who are being pushed around, and his reputation as a capable fighter draws exactly the kind of trouble he is trying to avoid. The comedy of his arc comes from that gap between who he wants to be (a diligent, unremarkable student) and what the world keeps demanding of him (the one person willing to step in).
By gathering an unlikely circle of misfits around him, Ga-min slowly turns his lonely goal into a shared one. His growth is less about becoming a better fighter and more about learning that the study group he wanted was never really about studying alone. It was about belonging, loyalty, and the quiet courage of chasing an ordinary dream in a place that makes it hard.
