Character Arc
Yoon Hye-jin is a confident, meticulous dentist from Seoul who is accustomed to a successful, image-conscious city life. After a professional and personal upheaval prompts a fresh start, she relocates to the seaside village of Gongjin and opens her own dental clinic. Her polished urban habits and high standards initially set her apart from the relaxed, communal pace of village life.
As she settles into Gongjin, Hye-jin repeatedly encounters Hong Du-sik, the local handyman whose easygoing nature contrasts sharply with her own. Their early interactions are full of friction, but through shared moments with the townspeople and a gradual understanding of one another, mutual respect grows into genuine affection. Over the series she becomes more open, learning to value community and connection over status.
Her arc balances a heartfelt central romance with her growth as a newcomer who slowly comes to belong in Gongjin. Hye-jin's relationships with the villagers, her professional pride, and her evolving feelings for Du-sik form the emotional core of the show, and her warmth gradually emerges from behind her composed exterior.
