About Wataha
Wataha, released internationally as The Border, is a Polish crime thriller set along the rugged southeastern frontier where Poland meets Ukraine and the wider edge of the European Union. The series follows the officers of the Border Guard who patrol the Bieszczady Mountains, a remote and forested region where smuggling routes, migration pressures and old grudges collide. The atmosphere is cold and unforgiving, and the landscape itself becomes a character that shapes every decision the officers make.
The story opens with a devastating explosion that kills several members of a Border Guard unit, leaving survivor Wiktor Rebrow to piece together what happened. As he digs into the blast, he uncovers a web of corruption, betrayal and cross-border crime that reaches far beyond a single act of violence. Each season tightens the focus on a new threat, from organized smuggling networks to the human cost of migration, while keeping the personal lives of the officers at the center of the drama.
