About Ace of Diamond
Ace of Diamond follows Eijun Sawamura, a passionate left-handed pitcher from a tiny rural middle school whose wild, unpredictable deliveries catch the eye of a scout from the elite Tokyo powerhouse Seido High. Lured by the promise of competing on a national stage, Eijun trades his small-town battery for one of the most demanding baseball programs in the country, where talent alone guarantees nothing and every roster spot must be fought for.
At Seido, Eijun discovers that being a standout in the countryside means little among a deep bench of gifted recruits. He clashes and connects with genius catcher Kazuya Miyuki, measures himself against the overpowering fastballer Satoru Furuya, and grinds through brutal practices, internal competition, and the politics of earning a coach's trust. The series treats the dream of reaching Koshien, Japan's revered national high-school tournament, as a goal that demands relentless improvement rather than raw inspiration.
Spanning the original 2013 run and the Second Season that concluded in 2016, the show balances detailed, strategy-driven baseball with the camaraderie, rivalries, and growing pains of a young team. Adapted from Yuji Terajima's long-running manga, Ace of Diamond is celebrated for taking the mechanics of pitching, catching, and game management seriously while keeping its large ensemble of players distinct, funny, and easy to root for.
